Roatan's West End...

Picture

Half Moon Bay's beautiful sandy beach is excellent for snorkeling, swimming, kayaking or just relaxing and getting a sun tan.The sandy road through West End hugs the beach and is lined with restaurants serving a variety of food from island cuisine to thai, and bars playing music to suit all tastes until the early hours. Accommodations in all price ranges are dotted throughout the village, plus there is a good selection of small stores. Fresh fruit and vegatables can be bought from vendors selling produce from the back off their trucks and local fisherman sell the catch of the day by the roadside. Souvenir shops stocking Central American craft, T-shirts and other bits and pieces are abundant and there is an art gallery featuring pieces by local artists.

Roatan measures approximately 60km/37miles from east to west and is less than 7km/4miles wide. The majority of the inland area is covered in lush jungle.  A mountain ridge spans  island, sheltering our location from most wind and rain. The dry season extends through most of the year, with sunny skies and crystal-clear waters for the majority of the time, interspersed with brief tropical showers. Roatan's rainy season lasts from mid-November to early February. During this time of year, rain and wind can last for days only to suddenly give way to weeks of gorgeous sunny weather.Typically daytime temperatures tend to be around the mid-80's °F (27-30 °C) and nighttime temperatures stay in the upper 60's °F (19-22 °C).
